Jubilee Hall Playgroup

Summer Newsletter 2014

28TH APRIL 2014

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the start of the Summer Term …. we hope you had a good Easter Break. Here’s hoping for some good weather this half term, as many of our planned activities involve  water  and the outdoors and are very messy!!

Below are a list of our topics & activities for the next 4 weeks, together with any up and coming important dates for your diary.

*Please note…. Playgroup will be closed on Monday 4th May as it is a Bank Holiday and Thursday 22nd May as the hall is being used for Elections.

For new parents or parents who are still unaware, then can I also remind you to ‘like’ our Facebook page. Not only are all important dates and up to date information posted on it, but you will also be able to view photos of the children’s activities at the end of every month. This enables you to get some idea of what happens once the doors are closed!!

Finally, if you have any questions  or concerns regarding Playgroup then please feel free to speak to a member of staff during opening  hours, or alternatively you can ring me out of hours on 07521820232, and I/we will endeavour to sort them out for you!

Messy Week/s – I can do Science

April 28th – 2nd  This week we will be starting Messy Week! The children will have the opportunity to play with cooked spaghetti, explore the properties of Gloop, weigh & balance wet & dry sand, enjoy ‘making patterns’ with shaving foam and planting Sun Flower seeds.

May 5th – 9th – Messy play continued, we will be exploring the weird & wonderful properties of Flubber, having a ‘Tea Party’ (water pouring), colour mixing using water & food colouring & painting a table & taking prints from it!

(Closed on Monday for Bank Holiday).

May 12th – 16th – This week there will be lots more experimenting – weighing (and playing with) cooked & dry pasta shapes, bubble blowing, and exploring ‘Messy Jelly’, doing a ‘sink or float’ activity and doing some planting to brighten up the ramp.

May 19th – 23rd – More messy play – the children will be experimenting & predicting whether some familiar food substances are soluble or insoluble, melting ice blocks to see what’s inside, planting cress and playing our ‘magnetic fishing game’ in a paddling pool!

(Closed on Thursday for Elections).

During these 4 weeks the children will also be given the opportunity   to play with different types of dough!!
