Our Story
Jubilee Playgroup was established in Sully in the early 1980’s, when the population of Sully increased dramatically as a result of new housing developments. Playgroup’s ‘home’ is in Jubilee Hall, a community building in a secure location, adjacent to the beach, with stunning, panoramic views overlooking the Bristol Channel. A convenient carpark, next to the building, is accessed via a lane, leading off Smithies Avenue.
Jubilee Playgroup is a registered charity, open to all preschool children from the age of two, in Sully and surrounding areas. We offer a safe, caring and stimulating environment where children have the opportunity to learn through play and where parents and carers can feel confident and content when they leave their children in the care of our friendly, experienced and qualified staff.
At our last inspection, carried out by Care Inspectorate Wales, Jubilee Playgroup was rated ‘Good’ across all four areas of our service.
‘Good’ is defined by CIW as “services with strengths and no important areas requiring significant improvement. They consistently exceed basic requirements, delivering positive outcomes for children and actively promote their well-being.”

Opportunities
There’s always lots to do…
Jubilee Playgroup provides high level learning opportunities, both indoors and outside, via a fully planned program, in accordance with the Welsh National Curriculums ‘Curriculum for Wales’. Playgroup has the use of a large bright hall and a safe play area adjacent to the building to facilitate this, allowing our children to experience messy, creative, imaginative, manipulative and physical play, as well as providing an opportunity for them, and their parents, to socialise and make new friends.
All children are assigned their own ‘Key Worker’ who maintains a progress file for each child, this includes individual assessments, photographs and examples of your child’s work. Files are available for viewing by parents at any time and will be passed to parents when their child leaves playgroup, we hope that you will feel they make a lovely keepsake!
An example of our daily routine:
9:15am
Welcome and settling in. Free play period with table top and tray activities, physical play, themed art and crafts, home and book corners, mat toys and outdoor play.
10:30am
Tidy up time, then mat time with stories, singing and nursery rhymes, the weather, numbers and colours in Welsh and English. Followed by snack time.
11:20am
Second play period with floor, tray and table top toys, including a manipulative activity such as playdough.
12 noon
Tidy up time, then mat time with stories, singing and nursery rhymes or games such as The Farmers in the Den.
12:15pm
Home time.

Childcare
Wraparound childcare is available, together with other providers in Sully, between 7:30am and 6pm, for children attending Jubilee Playgroup in the mornings and Sully School Nursery in the afternoons.
